Concert Handbell Choir

High School Ringers

The Concert Handbell Choir is one of 7 handbell choirs from St. Luke Lutheran Church in Gales Ferry, CT, and is comprised of all high school students. Their repertoire includes a wide variety of sacred, classical and popular music. They play five octaves of handbells and five octaves of Melody Chimes. The handbell program at St. Luke begins in the 3rd and 4th grades, so all of the Concert Handbell Choir ringers have been ringing for over 5 years.

The choir has a rich performance history: In June of 2001 they performed the opening concert for a Handbell Festival in front of an audience of over 800 ringers. They have toured England twice, played in the US Coast Guard Band’s Christmas Program as well as numerous other area festivals.

In June/July 2012, they will be touring in Pennsylvania. Previous summer tours took them to the Midwest (2005), to Washington D.C., including the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (2006), to Northern New England (2007) and to southern Florida, including a performance at EPCOT (2008) down the East Coast to South Carolina (2010), to Maine (2011) and to Pennsylvania (2012).

In 2009, the choir recorded a CD of Christmas music, “Ring in the Season.”
